Volunteers Needed

Conservation Commission, Finance Committee and Board of Registrars

The Town of Wales needs residents to fill vacant positions on two Town committees.

The Conservation Commission oversees all matters related to the lake and wetlands, and other ecological matters in Town. They also sign off or set conditions on construction that takes place in town. While some matters are fairly routine, the Conservation Commission is assisted by professionals when complex issues are under consideration. Training is also available for any member. See their webpage for more information. Submit a letter of interest to Board of Selectmen P. O. Box 834 Wales MA 01081.

The Finance Committee reviews the budget requests submitted by each town board, department or committee and prepares an overall budget for the coming fiscal year. Most of the work takes place between December and June, meeting twice a month, with documents to review between meetings. Understanding of Excel spreadsheets and how a budget works are a plus. But municipal finance is not the same as business finance, and training is available for anyone who is interested. Check out the Finance Committee webpage on this site and ask them any questions you may have. Submit a letter of interest to Board of Selectmen P. O. Box 834 Wales MA 01081.
