UPDATE: Town of Wales Response to the novel coronavirus

All Town Buildings Closed to the Public

In view of the Governors' call for "Stay-At-Home" and the closing of all non-essential business, Town employees are now working staggered hours to permit the essential functions to go on, and working from home as much as possible. Most departments can review their email and phone messages from home, but not all the phone extensions work. Someone will usually be in the building and able to answer the telephone Monday thru Thursday morning.  If you have not been able to reach a department by phone or email, they can take a message for you.

All Town Boards and Committees will decide whether to hold regularly scheduled meetings, but they will not be open to the public. You will be able to call in and listen. If you wish to comment, please send a letter or email to the department in question. Please check their webpages or the Town calendar for current information.

The Board of Selectman and Board of Health in consultation with other departments, will be reviewing the situation on April 6th. All Town Buildings remain closed to the public until then. This includes the Library, Senior Center, Old Town Hall and Town Office Building, including the Police Department and all Inspection Services. The Transfer Station will remain open it's regular hours. Town employees will be available by phone and email to answer questions and provide help. If you believe that you need to come in to any of the buildings, please call first and make an appointment.

For current information about the novel coronavirus, the Board of Health recommends that you check their webpage, or go to the CDC website dedicated to virus information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html

The Wales Town Wide Clean-up scheduled for Saturday, April 25th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will go ahead as planned.

The Police Department will do firearms renewals by mail only. New licensees should call the Police Department directly to set up an appointment. The Citizens’ Police and Fire Academy has been postponed until the fall, but you are encouraged to apply now if you are interested.
