The following by-law amendments, adopted at the Annual Town Meeting on May 15, 2019, was approved by Maura Healey, Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and became effective in the Town of Wales as of October 2, 2019, the date of the approval.

 

ARTICLE 23 A motion was made to amend Article 23 by adding the phrase “such meeting to be called by the Board of Selectmen.” The motion passed and the Town voted to amend the General Bylaws by deleting Chapter 4, Section 14 and replacing it with the following new Chapter 4, Section 14: “The Town shall have a financial management team that includes a member of the Select Board, a member of the Finance Committee, a member of the Board of Assessors, the Executive Secretary, the Town Accountant, the Tax Collector, the Town Treasurer and a representative from the regional school business office. Said team shall meet at least semi­ annually or more frequently as issues require, such meeting to be called by the Board of Selectmen. Each Board shall annually choose their representative.”

 

ARTICLE 24 The Town voted to amend Chapter 3, Section 2(15) Finance Committee, of the General Bylaws by adding “unless Finance Committee representation on another committee is required by bylaw, vote of the Select Board, or vote of town meeting.” in order to clarify the bylaw and bring it in line with current practice.
