Town of Wales Vaccination Information and Ongoing Response to COVID19

For information on the availability of vaccine, click here. Continue reading for information about how to reach Town departments.

The Town Offices are closed to the public thru February 16, 2021.  Visitors may come in only by appointment. Please make an appointment to come to the department you need to visit. During your visit to the building you must wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth, unless you have a medical reason why you cannot wear a mask. Please come alone, unless a second person is necessary for assistance or information. The door is now locked, so when you arrive, please call the department you need to speak to from the parking lot and someone will come and let you in. When the back door is unlocked, ring the bell inside the back door and someone will come to help you. If you open the door and someone is already waiting inside, we ask that you remain outside and adhere to social distancing standards if a line forms.  Hand sanitizer is available in all offices. We appreciate your cooperation as we adjust to new ways of doing business.

Town Offices employees continue to work staggered hours to permit the essential functions of the Town to continue, while working from home as much as possible. Most departments can review their email and phone messages from home, but not all of the phone extensions are functional. The Town Offices building is normally staffed Monday thru Thursday from 9AM to 3PM.  If you have not been able to reach a particular department by phone or email, request that the staff member answering the phone take a message for you.

Two good ways to get local information about COVID19:
The Board of Health has a weekly update on Fridays on Spectrum Channel 192, which repeats all week every hour, on the hour. And check the Board of Health page on the Town of Wales website for lots of information and links to other reputable websites.

All Town Boards and Committees will decide whether to hold regularly scheduled meetings, but they will not be open to the public. You will be able to call and/or log in and listen. If you wish to comment, please send a letter or email to the department. Please check their webpages or the Town calendar for current information.

The Senior Center remains closed.

The Library is now open to the public.  Staff members are also available to assist patrons by phone, email and curbside service.

If you are visiting the Town Offices building to obtain a transfer station permit or conduct other business, please enter through the rear door of the building, ring the bell located just inside the building and wait for a staff member to assist you.  We request that a face covering be worn at all times while inside the building.  If you open the door and someone is already waiting inside, we ask that you remain outside and adhere to social distancing standards if a line forms.  Hand sanitizer is available in all offices.

The Police Department continues to process firearms permit renewals by mail only. New licensees should call the Police Department directly to set up an appointment. The Citizens’ Police and Fire Academy has been postponed until the fall, but you are encouraged to apply now if you are interested.
