Volunteers Needed for Feral Cats Trap/Neuter/Return Program

Recently, there have been a couple of animals, including one feral cat, on Union Road which have tested positive for rabies.  There are many feral cats in that neighborhood, which could pose a risk of future rabies cases.

The Board of Health has contacted Here Today Shelter in Brimfield about their Trap/Neuter/Return program, and they are willing to work with volunteers in the area to implement this program.  There is no fee for this, but they will accept donations.  The shelter will provide the traps, and if needed, transportation for the cats.  When the cats are brought to them, they are neutered, given a rabies shot, and returned to the same neighborhood.  They assure us that this will quickly reduce the feral cat population.

We need your help to do this.  You may contact Here Today Shelter at 413-324-8224 smudge@heretodaysanctuary.org Or, you may contact the BOH at 413-245-7571 ext. 105
